FASHION MUST READS

By Kate Lalic

Posted in ,

No one wants to be left behind on fashion trends, but these trends change so rapidly! This makes it all the more important to read fashion books ahead of time. Although, don’t make it a chore, these books are great fun to read, probably over the weekends over a cup of tea in the morning? Anyone who has one of this books seems to never get their hands off a copy, and you can always comb through previous copies to see where you have been going wrong…

The first book that is a must have is Chanel’s Vocabulary of Style. I mean… there is no better thing than getting fashion tips from the ultimate fashion designer. Channel is so popular for their stylish clothes and perfumes and haute couture fashion. The author of the book concentrates on explaining the different trends in order to make it easier for you to shop for them.

It is impossible to talk about fashion without considering Interior design. The best book on interior design that works for me is Designing Paradises. The author of this book is Robert Couturier. Due to his reputation in command of decorative history with ability to layer couture styles in home interior décor gives homes balanced complexity with comfort. He is able to illustrate the best designs and styles using different and relevant illustrations. In my opinion it is a necessity for all home owners. It is important to read books on interior design in order to know what trend will work well with your home.

Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.
Coco Chanel
Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening
Coco Chanel

The second must have fashion book on style is Advanced Style by Seth Cohen. This book is for people who love edgy fashion it is for dare devils in fashion. From the hairstyle to the clothes and even nail art. There is nothing simple or refined this is ideal for the younger more hip generation.

Another must have is The Little Black Book of style for Fashion. This book is written by one of the most iconic designers, Nina Garcia. There is no other way to express the importance of this book. This is the mother of all fashion books. There is noting that this book does not cover about the fashion world. It is relevant for day to day stile, red carpet dressing advice and all the haute couture options available. It is really a book that one can do a daily reference to in order to look chic and classy.

One of my personal favorites is That Extra Half Inch by Victoria Beckham. Considering the fact that Victoria is one of the most fashionable women in the world, I wouldn’t miss this book come what may. She covers each and every aspect of fashion and style. As one of the all-time favorites in the red carpet she offers advice on all ranges of fashion this includes all edgy trends to more classy and retro yet stylish styles. One of the most amazing sections of this book is the part where she gives the things to consider while one is accessorizing their look. Accessorizing is a major concern in the world of fashion because it can ruin a whole look. She takes her time to explain the best ways to tone down accessories and still look fabulous.

Never use the word “cheap”. Today everybody can look chic in inexpensive clothes (the rich buy them too). There is good clothing design on every level today. You can be the chicest thing in the world in a T-shirt and jeans — it’s up to you.
Karl Lagerfeld

So, you’re done reading through a copy of Chanel’s Vocabulary of Style, what now, besides heading to Holt Renfrew for that latest shoe? Leave it! Instead of tucking the book away into some bookcase, leave the book on the coffee table, just that simple. If you want your room to look like a spring Pinterest board, add a fresh bouquet of white tulips!

These books have beautiful covers that make really good fashion accessories for your interior décor. It also makes a very nice display in your home library when guests come over for teatime; makes you look a bit sophisticated, and who doesn’t want to be?
