Strolling through the beach I noticed the perfect canary sand beneath my feet. The sun is setting down and the horizon is encompassed in many different shades of pinks and reds. I see yachts and water taxis and even kids flying up in the air from the water jets. I had just wined and dinned at the PIERCHIC, a European ocean deck restaurant. The champagne glass I grabbed along with me on the stroll emptied so fast…

You don’t have to look hard for the hotel you are staying in as its right on the water. The Burj Al Arab. So, where are you? You are in the glorious city of Dubai.

Once a year, go some place you’ve never been before.

Must sees and do's

  • Burj Khalifa building. It’s the tallest building in the world, you can basically see it from anywhere. Its  amazing. You can go inside and the elevator brings you to the top, where you can see the view like from a plane. I think there are about 150 floors.
  • The Dubai mall. Gigantic! Worlds biggest mall. You can spend days there exploring everything it has to offer. Aquarium, skiing, ice skating , 1000s of shops, restaurants…  And its right next to Burj Khalifa building.
  • Dubai fountains, right next to the mall and building. There is a water show every 30 minutes with music and lighting. Must see at night.
  • Dubai marina yacht club. Very romantic and relaxing to have a walk there. You can take the cruise with dinner and enjoy the view of the skyline. Or you can just sit down on a terrasse and grab some wine.
  • Burj al Arab. Worlds tallest hotel on an artificial island. It is designed like a sail. It has an underwater restaurant (Al Mahara) or the Skyview Bar restaurant on the 27th floor with a view to the city.
  • Jumeirah beach:  Best beach destination. Most popular place to stay because that’s where most of the hotels are.
  • Other things to do: drive on the Sheikh Zayed Road (It’s the main road running through the downtown business district) to look at the buildings and its modern architecture, also visit Bastakia (Old Dubai) , the souks and the mosques.

Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates. It’s known for its luxury shopping, ultra-modern architecture and a very lively nightlife. Dubai is also home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, a whopping 829.8 m. At its surroundings lies he Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights and synchronized music. There are countless of other massive building around each with a certain purpose. For example, The Dubai Mall. Its home to almost every fashion brand around the world. It’s adorned with 440,000 square feet on Fashion Ave, it is recognized as the largest collection of fashion brands in the world. Believe it or not, Dubai is becoming the next fashion capital of the world.

Dubai’s eatery became the eatery of Europe. With immigrants coming to Dubai for work, it is inevitable they bring their food too. That is why you will find many Pakistani or even Filipino restaurants on the rise, ready to serve you their delicious dishes. At the same time, there are many restaurants from around the globe that are known to just be the best; there’s even a Starbucks coffee shop…! . For a taste of some fantastic brunch, head over to the Mazina, or head over to Neos for some drinks and a beautiful skyline of Dubai. Dining for a certain occasion, such as an engagement in this city of gold? There is also the Bateaux Dubai, which is a two and a half hour dinner cruise on the coast of the city.

The city holds the wealthiest young men, expensive cars, luxurious homes, this desert city has something for you to do day and night. Sunbathing on the beach, to skydiving, to dinner in the tallest building in the world…

Pack your Louis V’s and sunscreen, we are leaving! Ciao!    وداعا
